Communication (original)

$1,250.00

24″ x 24″
oil on canvas
2022

I have been fortunate enough to live my life thus far on the "Island of the Sea Wolves". That makes it sound like they are everywhere. I have only seen the sea wolves so far. My husband and I were visiting the small First Nations community of Ahousat, off the coast of Tofino, BC. On our way back to the village from a fishing trip we spotted the pack of wolves on the rocky shore. We stopped, turned off the boat, and quietly admired them. While observing them, it was very clear who the Alpha was, standing taller than the rest. We watched as the others fell in line when the Alpha decided he had lost interest in us, and proceeded along the shoreline. It was an amazing experience to witness these elusive figures in person.

This painting is part of the on-going series of “half-faces”, depicting a variety of West Coast wildlife, but with only half of their face exposed, acting as a commentary on how we can attempt to, but never fully understand these majestic, wild creatures.

This painting comes ready to hang and includes a Certificate of Authenticity.

“Communication” is also available as made to order paper and canvas prints here.

Shipping fees will be applied at checkout. Free pickup also available in Courtenay, BC.
