Last summer my husband and I went camping for four days at Horne Lake on Vancouver Island - a beautiful lake surrounded by steep hills. One of the mornings we went and sat at the lake shore with our coffees to enjoy the serenity and solitude. Very unexpectedly, in the corner of my eye I see an Eagle swoop down from the tree line behind us, descend to the surface of the water about 20 feet from where we are sitting, pick up a fish, and ascend back to the tree line. From our front row seats we could not believe what we had just witnessed. To us it was remarkable - to the Eagle it seemed effortless. It happened in the blink of an eye, and yet it was also in slow motion.

I took it as a good reminder that we don’t need to try so hard to witness the beauty and wonder of nature. If we sit still and quiet, and stop taking up so much unnecessary space, nature finds us.

This painting comes ready to hang and includes a Certificate of Authenticity.

“Descent” is also available as made to order paper and canvas prints here.

Shipping fees will be applied at checkout. Free pickup also available in Courtenay, BC.
